St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Edmond, Oklahoma
Dear Friends in Christ,
Leita Davis, our founder, was a visionary woman of faith. In 1937,
she gathered a few Episcopalians and formed a community around tea and common prayer. This year marks the 80th anniversary of the founding of our parish, and we are celebrating that anniversary by expanding on Leita’s vision. This brochure introduces you to our vision for the Episcopal community in Edmond. It is a bold step forward in faith undertaken for the glory of God in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. The Episcopal Church now owns 75 acres in the middle of our city. That is simply astounding! We are renewing our relationship with our school. That is inspiring! We are planting a new church in a rapidly growing neighborhood. This is strategic! I invite you to join us as we embark on the spiritual journey of a lifetime.
Faithfully,
The Rev. Dr. Mark D. Story

What’s the plan? Why are we moving?
Relocating to the 23 acre North Broadway property will create a strong Episcopal presence in North Edmond and will physically reunite the ministry of St. Mary’s Episcopal School and our parish. Currently, 70% of school families do not actively participate in a faith community and it’s our hope that we will be able to invite them into our parish. We also hope that locating adjacent to the school will allow St. Mary’s to develop multigenerational relationships with students and staff.
Our new property is located in a rapidly growing part of Edmond. Currently, there are 117,577 persons residing within a 5-mile radius. The population has grown by 55.3% since 2000 and the population is expected to grow an additional 9.8% by 2020. Persons age 14-33 make up 29% of this total.
